Ahead of the weekend, Lucas had already secured the United Championship, with 1 point behind in the quest for the Champion of Brands.
In qualifying, Lucas secured pole by an impressive 2.142 seconds in wet, challenging conditions.
Race 1, the track was a mixture of wet and dry, which was a challenge for all racers, Lucas had a great start off the line to secure the lead into the first corner. Lucas posting fastest laps throughout to win by a comfortable 29 seconds over 2nd place.
Race 2, with the car prepped for dry conditions, while the team waited for the race to start the heavens opened, creating a wet track again, the team frantically adjusted the car to race in the new wet conditions. The start was closer than race 1, with Lucas just taking the lead into first corner, then pulling away from the rest of the field at Druids
Lucas Romanek was leading by 8.6 seconds on lap seven when red flags waved after a two car crash. The race restarted for 11 laps on a drier track, with Lucas setting fastest lap by 0.898s as he romped to victory.
The double win secured Lucas the title of 2023 Champion of Brands for the second time and the Martin Down Trophy for the third consecutive year.
Lucas said, ‘we threw everything at 2023, to come away with the wins and trophy titles is great, to achieve the champion of Brands for a second time and Martin Down trophy for a third time was a great feeling, great way to end the season'.
