28th August and the Bank Holiday Castle Combe Formula Ford 2023 penultimate race weekend at Castle Combe. Lucas qualified in 3rd, only 0.014 seconds behind Cooper in 2nd.
Race 1, and the top 3 pulled a slight gap from the rest of the field changing places almost every lap until Cooper and Fisher came together and retired from the race at Avon Rise, giving Lucas the lead of the race. Lucas successfully brought it home to secure his 2nd race win at the competitive Castle Combe Championship.
Race 2, and Lucas again started 3rd on the grid. Fisher took the lead immediately, bringing Cooper and Lucas along to create a clear break for the leading trio as they began the 2nd lap.
Lucas trying everything to pass Cooper in 2nd, after lap after lap of close battle he eventually had to settle for 3rd.
After the race, Lucas said, 'They are so experienced around this track, Fisher just knows where to place the car to defend and when he can push and not defend. It has been great racing at Castle Combe this season, we have learnt a lot and it has given us the opportunity to try out new things'.
Next race is at Knock Hill, Scotland in the BRSCC National, then Brands Hatch and Silverstone, before we return to Castle Combe for the Grand Finals Day in October, where we will also welcome our local sponsor SN Heating & Plumbing Ltd to enjoy race day from the paddock.
